Thank You Summer Interns!

As our Summer Internship program wraps up, we’d like to recognize the incredible summer interns who have dedicated their time to advancing sustainability in New York. Below, read what Research Intern Abigail Andrews and Policy Intern Lindsay Cherry have to say about their experience interning at Urban Green. While we’re lucky enough to have a few interns returning this fall, many of our teams are seeking new candidates—qualified candidates can apply here.

Abigail Andrews

Research Intern

Abigail is an incoming junior studying environmental policy and sustainable development at Barnard College. She is passionate about being active in shaping sustainable built environments through energy, design and policy. She will be staying on as Urban Green's Research Intern this fall.

My internship with the Research team at Urban Green Council has been an amazing learning and professional experience. This summer, I did a deep-dive into data analysis of energy use in over 15,000 buildings and helped write portions of the New York City Energy and Water Use 2014 and 2015 Report. Applying analysis methods from my past coursework and research experience has allowed me to grow as a student of energy efficiency, future professional and activist. Urban Green Council has also given me the opportunity to make connections throughout New York’s green building industry, welcomed me into a friendly office and provided a toolbox of green building knowledge I cannot wait to keep using.

Lindsay Cherry

Policy Intern

Lindsay will be heading back to Columbia University in the fall to complete her Master of Public Administration concentrating in energy and environmental policy.

As a master’s student studying energy and environmental policy, interning for Urban Green Council has grown my skillsets and expanded my professional knowledge immensely. I am eternally grateful for the time and energy the Policy Team expended incorporating and educating me on Urban Green’s initiatives, such as benchmarking, reducing appliance energy use and diverting/recycling carpet. Working as a policy intern for Urban Green has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I look forward to following their fantastic work!
