Even though the majority of construction waste is recyclable, the overall recycling rate for construction and demolition waste in NYC is estimated to be less than 50 percent. Cooper Recycling in Brooklyn is maximizing material recovery by using custom-engineered equipment and state-of-the-art technology.
On August 22, join Urban Green’s Emerging Professionals for a tour of Cooper Recycling’s construction and demolition recycling facility in Brooklyn. You’ll get a firsthand look at the recycling process and learn about certification and processing.
Cooper Recycling is an active transfer station. All tour participants are required to wear the following:
- Sneakers or work boots. Open-toe shoes are strictly prohibited.
- Long pants, long sleeves (recommended)
- Clothes and shoes that can get dirty
- Personal Protective Equipment (hard hats, hi-visibility vests, glasses, masks) will be provided.
Additionally, the ground will be slippery, the environment can be dusty and we will be climbing stairs. Anyone with asthma or difficulty walking should not come on the tour. We also ask that you do not take pictures, videos or other recordings during the tour or presentation.
We will end our tour with a happy hour at Honey’s. You can register for the happy hour separately here. You do not have to register for the tour to attend the happy hour.
