Course overview

In GPRO Getting Started with Green Building, you will learn about career pathways in the field and earn your GPRO Certificate! Whether you are just beginning your career or looking to pivot to a new career in green building, you’ll walk away with a new understanding of the field and how to assess which pathway may be right for you.

What you’ll learn

By the end of this training, you will be able to:

  • Explain how jobs in green building can have an impact on climate change
  • Recognize the key systems and stakeholders that contribute to a high performance building
  • Understand the wide variety of jobs and skills that are needed for green building
  • Consider what career pathway you might pursue in the green building field

Who is this for

This training is ideal for anyone entering the workforce and interested in exploring careers in the green building industry, including:

  • New workers or workers looking to pivot careers
  • Students from Career Technical Schools
  • Individuals participating in workforce development programs
  • Students interested in entering the building or construction industry

How it works

This class session will be held virtually over zoom, by a highly knowledgeable instructor with industry experience.

Registration includes a course e-book and the online exam session. Students who pass the exam with an 80% or higher become a GPRO Certificate Holder.

If you are unable to attend your scheduled course date, sign up for a future class at no additional cost by emailing gpro@urbangreencouncil.org. We understand that your plans may change and are happy to refund your registration fee within 90 days of purchase. Requests for session changes and/or refunds must be received at least a week in advance of the course date. Memberships and donations are nonrefundable.

Instructors

Molly Freed
Senior Associate, US Program, RMI

Molly Freed is a Senior Associate of the US Program at RMI. Molly supports state efforts toward economy-wide decarbonization by identifying policy gaps and implementing solutions within the building, transportation, industry, and energy sectors. Her work with policymakers and advocates helps ensure states meet their climate targets in 2030 and beyond. Prior to joining RMI’s US Program team, Molly spent five years working at the International Living Future Institute, where she oversaw the Institute’s green building policy efforts and supported project teams around the world in their pursuit of deep green building performance.
